How did the egyptian artistic paint inside the pyrimids so elegantly without light?

/...and supposidly the is no soot residue in the ceiling of chambers if they had used torches is this true?..thoughts?..also any thougths on hall of records from antiquity or is it a bedtime story for young minds?
