Cervix being open and closed.. eurgh!?

Im ttc but have came across the cervix checking method. But what do you mena 'open' Im not sure why but it makes me feel queasy! im not a prude or have any problems with touching there to feel the difference I just dont know what open and closed will feel like. Im sorry but it just makes me go funny? anyone else feel like that??? Thanks
