Is is always mandatory to pay our tithes?

It has never been mandatory in my church to pay tithes but I always do.You pay 10 % of any income that you get.Yes on disability income and no on tax refunds.Only on anything that is considered income.Taxes are a refund and not considered income.If you are having hard times and don't have the money to tithe the 10% just give what you can,God will know why you are having to do this.If you can not afford anything at the time don't get upset about it.There are things that you can do at church on a regular basis and that will account for your tithing.A lot of people at my church do this and there is nothing wrong with it.Just talk to your Pastor and see what needs done and tell him that you would like to do it and let it account for your tithing.Nothing to be ashamed of by doing it this way.Good question.
