Transferring from UCSD to UC Davis?

I am currently a freshmen at UCSD, but due to AP cles I already have 41 units down and have fulfilled most of my GE's for my college (Sixth). I am a communication major. I'm planning on transferring to UC Davis for Winter Quarter 2012 and do the same major, but their major prerequisites are some cles I have never taken and if I do take them, will fulfill GEs at UCSD that I have already fulfilled. Is it a good idea to take these cles for a letter grade anyway, take upper division Comm cles that are transferable in the fall, and ignore the remaining three cles I need to fulfill UCSD GE's?
